Senior Planning Enforcement Officer
Location: West Midlands
Rate: £45 per hour
Contract: 3 Months ongoing
Spencer Clarke Group are working with a local authority to appoint an Interim Senior Planning Enforcement Officer.
This is a key role within a busy Planning Enforcement function, managing a varied caseload and supporting service delivery across the wider Development Management team. The post will involve regular site work, investigation, report writing and engagement with stakeholders.
Responsibilities include:
- Managing a caseload of planning enforcement investigations from enquiry to resolution
- Gathering and evaluating evidence, carrying out site inspections and liaising with internal and external stakeholders
- Preparing clear written reports and recommendations for delegated decisions and formal action
- Supporting enforcement appeals, where required, attendance at hearings, inquiries and court-related activity
- Providing professional planning enforcement advice across the service
- Supporting service improvements, procedures and consistent ways of working
About you:
- Strong background in local authority planning enforcement (or closely aligned development management enforcement work)
- Confident handling complex investigations and drafting robust reports
- Comfortable with site-based work and stakeholder management, including difficult conversations
- Able to manage competing priorities in a high-volume environment
