We are currently looking for a Behaviour & Learning Support Assistants to work within schools, supporting pupils who may require additional support with their behaviour, emotional wellbeing and learning.

We are supporting a number of schools across the Darlington area.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is patient, resilient and confident in building positive relationships with children and young people.

As a Behaviour & Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and pastoral teams to provide individual and small-group support.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting pupils with their learning, behaviour and emotional wellbeing.
  • Providing 1:1 and small-group support both in and out of the classroom.
  • Helping pupils to manage challenging behaviour and develop positive coping strategies.
  • Building trusting and positive relationships with pupils.
  • Encouraging engagement, confidence and independence.
  • Supporting pupils to follow school routines, expectations and behaviour policies.
  • Working alongside teachers and other support staff to identify barriers to learning.
  • Helping to create a calm, safe and inclusive learning environment.
  • Supporting pupils who may have SEND, SEMH or additional behavioural needs.
  • Following safeguarding and school policies at all times.

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Patient, calm and resilient.
  • Confident managing challenging behaviour.
  • Able to build positive relationships with children and young people.
  • Understanding of SEND, SEMH and/or behavioural needs.
  • Consistent and confident when setting boundaries.
  • Able to remain calm in challenging situations.
  • A strong communicator and team player.
  • Passionate about helping pupils overcome barriers to education.
  • DBS on the update service or the willingness to obtain one

Previous experience within education, SEND, SEMH, youth work, care, mentoring or behaviour support would be highly beneficial. We are also happy to consider candidates with strong transferable experience
