Location: Yorkshire
Rate: £300 - £400 per day
Working Pattern: On site 3 days per week
Contract: At least 3 months

Spencer Clarke Group are supporting a local authority to appoint a Building Surveyor within their property and asset's function.

This is an interim role supporting a busy programme of capital works and refurbishments. You will take projects from early scoping and surveys through to delivery on site, producing technical information, managing contractors, and keeping a close eye on cost, programme and compliance.

Responsibilities include
* Managing refurbishment, alteration and small works projects from start to finish
* Carrying out building surveys and providing professional advice on condition, repairs and maintenance
* Producing and reviewing specifications, designs and technical documents for tender and construction
* Administering contracts and overseeing contractor performance, quality and progress
* Supporting procurement and tendering processes when required
* Tracking budgets, programmes and key risks across multiple projects
* Ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and health and safety standards
* Acting as Principal Designer where appropriately qualified and formally appointed
* Liaising with internal stakeholders, consultants and contractors throughout delivery

About you
* Proven experience working as a Building Surveyor across construction, property or asset management projects
* Strong background in refurbishment, alteration and improvement works
* Solid contract administration experience and confidence managing contractors on site
* Experience project managing building works, balancing quality, cost and timescales
* Good technical understanding of building design, construction methods and relevant standards
* Degree or equivalent in Building Surveying or a closely related construction discipline
* Ideally MRICS or membership of a relevant professional body
* Desirable experience in a local authority or wider public sector setting
* Desirable experience undertaking Principal Designer duties under CDM Regulations
