Head of Finance Business Partnering - Children's Services - Interim

Spencer Clarke Group are working closely with a Local Authority in South East London to appoint an Interim Head of Finance Business Partnering to lead the finance support across Children's Services.

This is a senior interim leadership assignment focused on strategic business partnering, financial planning, transformation and savings delivery.

• Rate: £650 PAYE / £905.52 Umbrella per day
• Contract length: 26 weeks
• Full-time: 36 hours per week
• Hybrid working: Typically 2 days per week onsite
• Inside IR35
• Start: ASAP / subject to notice

The Role
The successful candidate will lead the Children's Services finance business partnering function, managing a team of five and providing strategic financial advice to senior service leaders.

Key responsibilities:

• Leading and managing the Children's Services business partnering team.
• Supporting budget setting, forecasting and financial performance reporting.
• Advising senior leaders on service plans, transformation and savings.
• Challenging existing delivery models and supporting service improvement.
• Strengthening financial stewardship, controls and decision-making.
• Supporting the Council's Section 151 responsibilities.

About You
You will ideally have:

• A full CCAB or equivalent accountancy qualification.
• Significant senior Local Authority finance experience.
• Strong Children's Services business partnering experience.
• Experience delivering savings, transformation and financial planning.
• Proven team management and senior stakeholder engagement skills.
