Learning Support Lead - Liverpool

Location: Liverpool

Pay: £130-£160 per day, dependent on experience

Spencer Clarke Group are working with a specialist education setting in Liverpool who are looking to appoint an experienced Learning Support Lead on a full-time, temporary-to-permanent basis.

The successful candidate will lead a team of Learning Support Assistants (LSAs), ensuring students with SEND and additional learning needs receive high-quality support that promotes independence, achievement and progression.

You will oversee the day-to-day deployment of support staff and work closely with curriculum teams, families and external professionals to ensure provision reflects EHCPs, learner profiles and individual support plans.

This role would suit an experienced SEND, Learning Support or Education professional with previous experience leading or supervising support staff.

The Role:

  • Lead, motivate and support a team of Learning Support Assistants.

  • Coordinate daily LSA deployment, rotas, timetables and cover.

  • Ensure support is delivered effectively in line with EHCPs and support plans.

  • Monitor the quality and effectiveness of classroom support.

  • Conduct observations, provide feedback and support staff development.

  • Work with curriculum teams on reasonable adjustments and differentiated strategies.

  • Monitor student progress, attendance and engagement.

  • Contribute to EHCP annual reviews, transition planning and multi-disciplinary meetings.

  • Support examination access arrangements where required.

  • Promote student independence, confidence, resilience and progression.

  • Liaise with parents, carers, local authorities and external professionals.

  • Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with safeguarding and the SEND Code of Practice.

Essential Requirements:

  • Level 3+ qualification in Learning Support or Education, such as Supporting Teaching & Learning, SEND, Education or Youth Work.

  • Experience leading or supervising support staff within education, SEND or youth settings.

  • Experience supporting learners with additional learning needs.

  • Experience working with EHCPs and individual support plans.

  • Strong understanding of the SEND Code of Practice.

  • Knowledge of inclusive teaching, differentiation and reasonable adjustments.

  • Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills.

  • Understanding of safeguarding and Prevent responsibilities.

Desirable Experience:

  • Experience within Further Education or specialist SEND settings.

  • Experience supporting learners with SEMH, communication needs or neurodiversity.

  • Level 4+ SEND or education qualification.

  • Experience with transition assessments or small-group interventions.

  • Knowledge of examination access arrangements.

All pay rates quoted include 14.3% statutory holiday pay. This is initially a temporary agency position with the opportunity to progress onto a permanent contract.
