School Caretaker - Lichfield, Staffordshire

Location: Lichfield, Staffordshire
Pay: £18.00-£19.00 per hour
Hours: 6:30am-3:00pm
Contract: Temporary to Permanent
Start Date: ASAP

We are currently recruiting for an experienced School Caretaker to join a school in Lichfield, Staffordshire, on a temporary-to-permanent basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous school or education-sector experience who has a strong understanding of compliance, health & safety, and site management.

Key Responsibilities

• Opening and securing the school site
• Carrying out general caretaking, maintenance and minor repairs
• Ensuring the school premises are safe, clean and well maintained
• Completing routine site checks and reporting any issues
• Supporting with health & safety and compliance requirements
• Monitoring contractors and ensuring work is carried out safely
• Maintaining records, logs and relevant compliance documentation
• Responding to maintenance issues and emergencies as required
• Supporting the smooth day-to-day operation of the school site

The Ideal Candidate

• Previous experience working as a Caretaker, Site Manager, Facilities Assistant or similar
• School/education experience is highly desirable
• Good knowledge of health & safety and compliance procedures
• Practical and confident with general maintenance and repairs
• Organised, reliable and able to work independently
• Strong communication skills
• Able to build positive relationships with staff, pupils and contractors
• A proactive approach with good attention to detail
