Housekeeping Assistant - Part-Time

Salary: £13.22-£13.75 per hour, depending on experience
Actual annual salary: £14,763-£15,355 per year
Hours: 25 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 11:00am-4:00pm
Contract: Permanent, part-time, term time only

We are currently recruiting for a Housekeeping Assistant to join the team within a specialist educational setting.

Working alongside the Housekeeper, you will play an important role in maintaining high standards of cleanliness, hygiene and presentation across the school's internal areas, helping to provide a safe, welcoming and supportive environment for pupils and staff.

The setting supports children aged 5-16 with autism, moderate to severe learning needs and associated challenges. The school provides a nurturing and inclusive environment where every child is valued and supported.

The Role

As a Housekeeping Assistant, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and general upkeep of furniture, fixtures, fittings and internal areas throughout the setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain consistently high standards of housekeeping, cleanliness and hygiene
• Ensure all areas are clean, tidy and safe
• Maintain clean and hygienic dining areas during pupil lunch service
• Report maintenance issues promptly to the appropriate member of the site team
• Follow all relevant health and safety, safeguarding and COSHH procedures
• Ensure cleaning chemicals are stored securely and safely
• Support the wider housekeeping team as required
• Contribute to the overall smooth running of the setting

About You

We are looking for someone who has:

• Previous experience working as a cleaner or housekeeper
• The ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• A consistently high standard of performance and attention to detail
• A friendly and customer-focused approach
• The ability to work efficiently without compromising quality
• Previous experience within a care, education or similar environment would be desirable

You will be someone who takes pride in their work, works well as part of a team and understands the importance of maintaining a clean, safe and welcoming environment for children and young people.
