This is an exciting opportunity for a teacher who understands that every student is different and is committed to creating a safe, nurturing and engaging environment where young people can develop academically, socially and emotionally.
You will work with students who may have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, helping them overcome barriers to learning and develop the confidence, resilience and skills they need to succeed.

The Role
As an SEMH Teacher, you will:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons that meet the individual needs of students.
  • Create a calm, structured and positive learning environment.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with students.
  • Support students with their social, emotional and behavioural development.
  • Use positive behaviour management strategies and restorative approaches.
  • Adapt teaching and learning to accommodate different abilities and needs.
  • Monitor student progress and provide appropriate feedback.
  • Work closely with teaching assistants, pastoral staff, families and external professionals.
  • Contribute to individual support plans and wider student development.
  • Promote independence, resilience and positive attitudes towards learning.
  • Maintain high expectations while recognising and responding to individual needs.

About You
We are looking for a teacher who is:

  • Patient, empathetic and approachable.
  • Confident managing challenging behaviour in a calm and consistent manner.
  • Experienced in, or passionate about, working with young people with SEMH needs.
  • Able to build positive relationships with students who may have experienced barriers to education.
  • Flexible and creative in their approach to teaching.
  • Resilient and able to remain calm under pressure.
  • Committed to inclusive education and giving every young person the opportunity to succeed.
  • A strong communicator who works well as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • DBS on the update service or the willingness to obtain one

QTS is desirable, and experience within SEMH, alternative provision, PRUs, SEND or specialist settings would be advantageous. We would also consider teachers with strong mainstream experience who are looking to move into a specialist setting.

What We Offer

  • A supportive and welcoming team.
  • A rewarding role where you can make a genuine difference.
  • Small class sizes and opportunities for individualised teaching.
  • Opportunities for professional development and specialist training.
