We are currently looking for a Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in the Killingworth area. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys being around children and is looking to build or develop their experience within a school environment.
The role
As a Teaching Assistant, you will work alongside the class teacher to support pupils throughout the school day. You'll be involved in classroom activities, provide extra help where needed and play an important part in creating a positive learning environment.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting pupils with their everyday classroom learning
- Working with individuals and small groups to provide additional support
- Helping with reading, phonics, writing and basic maths activities
- Supporting the teacher during lessons and classroom activities
- Encouraging pupils to stay engaged and take part in learning
- Helping children develop their confidence and independence
- Promoting positive behaviour and good classroom routines
- Assisting with classroom preparation and general activities
- Creating a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment for all pupils
What we're looking for
You don't necessarily need years of school experience. We're interested in people who have the right attitude and genuinely enjoy working with children.
Ideally, you will have:
- Previous experience working with children or young people
- Experience in a school, nursery, childcare or similar setting is desirable
- A calm, patient and caring approach
- Good communication skills
- The ability to work well as part of a team
- A positive and reliable attitude
- Confidence when working with children
- A genuine interest in supporting children's learning and development
- A relevant Teaching Assistant or childcare qualification would be an advantage, but isn't essential
- Ideally, you will be based in or around the Killingworth area
