Waste Manager
Location: South West
Rate: £400 Per Day
Contract: 6 - Months ongoing
Spencer Clarke Group are recruiting for an experienced Interim Waste Manager to support a public sector organisation on an initial 6-month assignment.
This role provides technical leadership and operational oversight across waste management functions, with a strong focus on contract performance, waste infrastructure, and delivery of priority projects that underpin a Waste and Resources Strategy.
Responsibilities include:
- Provide technical leadership across waste management, recycling, infrastructure, and environmental programmes
- Lead delivery of key workstreams supporting a Waste and Resources Strategy and delivery plans
- Drive complex projects and service improvements to improve performance and outcomes
- Manage and monitor waste contracts, supplier performance, compliance, and value for money
- Oversee waste facilities and operational infrastructure including treatment facilities and transfer arrangements
- Work with contractors, regulators, senior stakeholders and elected members
- Produce business cases, technical reports and recommendations to support decision-making
- Support budget management, efficiency initiatives and savings opportunities
About you:
- Significant experience in waste management within complex operational environments
- Strong background in waste contract management and supplier performance
- Strong understanding of waste infrastructure and operational service delivery
- Proven experience leading projects, programmes and service improvements
- Confident stakeholder manager, including advising senior leaders and engaging elected members
- Strong knowledge of relevant waste and environmental regulations and compliance
- CIWM / Chartered Waste Manager (MCIWM) or equivalent is highly desirable
