Maths Teacher

A specialist independent school in Stockport is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed Maths Teacher to join their dedicated team on an immediate basis.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Maths Teacher who is passionate about supporting young people with SEND, autism and SEMH needs and wants to make a genuine difference to pupils who may have experienced challenges within mainstream education.

The Role

As a Maths Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and accessible Maths lessons to pupils aged 11-16, adapting your teaching to meet individual needs and helping students build confidence in their learning.

You will:

• Plan and deliver high-quality Maths lessons.

• Adapt teaching and learning to meet individual SEND and SEMH needs.

• Support pupils to make progress against their individual learning outcomes.

• Create a positive, nurturing and inclusive classroom environment.

• Develop positive relationships with pupils and help build their confidence and self-esteem.

• Work closely with teaching and therapeutic staff to support pupils holistically.

• Contribute to assessment, tracking and curriculum development.

• Help prepare pupils for future education, employment and independent living.

The School

The school is a specialist therapeutic setting supporting pupils with autism and SEMH needs, alongside associated needs including ADHD, sensory processing difficulties, anxiety and gaps in prior learning.

The school places a strong emphasis on creating a safe and supportive environment where pupils can re-engage with education. Teaching is tailored to individual EHCPs, with academic, vocational and life-skills learning forming part of the wider curriculum.

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will ideally:

• Have QTS or relevant teaching experience.

• Have experience teaching Maths at secondary level.

• Have experience working with, or a strong interest in supporting, pupils with SEND/SEMH.

• Be confident adapting lessons to individual needs.

• Have excellent classroom management and relationship-building skills.

• Be patient, resilient and passionate about helping young people succeed.

• Work effectively as part of a wider multidisciplinary team.

This role can be offered on either a temporary-to-permanent or permanent basis, with an immediate start available.
