We are working with a brand-new, purpose-built specialist school in Derby to recruit a permanent SEN Teacher to join their growing team from January 2027.

The school provides education for pupils aged 4-19 with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and associated Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This is an exciting opportunity to join the school's founding team and play an important role in shaping its ethos, curriculum and future development.

Your Role:

As an SEN Teacher, you will:

• Deliver engaging, personalised and differentiated lessons that meet the individual needs of pupils with ASC and SEMH needs.
• Plan, prepare and assess learning in line with the school's curriculum and high expectations.
• Use creative and engaging teaching approaches to promote curiosity, independence and a love of learning.
• Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils and create a safe, structured and inclusive classroom environment.
• Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists and the wider multidisciplinary team to support each pupil's development.
• Monitor, assess and celebrate pupil progress, adapting your teaching approach to ensure every learner can achieve.
• Support pupils to develop confidence, resilience, independence and essential life skills.
• Contribute to a positive school culture as part of a growing and developing team.

What We're Looking For:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), QTLS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
• Experience of teaching within a primary, secondary, SEN, SEND, SEMH or alternative provision setting.
• Experience of, or a strong interest in, supporting children and young people with ASC and/or SEMH needs.
• A flexible, creative and nurturing approach to teaching and learning.
• Strong classroom management and relationship-building skills.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with pupils, families and colleagues.
• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
• A genuine passion for helping pupils achieve their academic, social and personal potential.

Previous experience within a specialist education setting is desirable but not essential. Teachers from mainstream settings with a strong interest in developing their SEN practice are encouraged to apply.
