SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Blackburn
Pay Rate: £16.90 per hour
Contract: Temporary to Permanent
Spencer Clarke Group are currently recruiting for SEN Teaching Assistants to work within primary schools across Blackburn and the surrounding areas.
This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals who are passionate about supporting children with special educational needs and are looking to develop their experience within an educational setting.
Candidates without a formal Teaching Assistant qualification are also encouraged to apply, provided they have the relevant skills, experience or a genuine passion for supporting children.
There are genuine temp-to-perm opportunities available for the right candidates.

The Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teaching staff to support pupils with their learning, development and individual needs.
Your responsibilities may include:

• Providing one-to-one and small-group support
• Supporting pupils with additional and special educational needs
• Assisting with classroom learning and activities
• Supporting pupils with their social and emotional development
• Encouraging positive behaviour and engagement
• Helping pupils to develop their confidence and independence
• Creating a safe, supportive and inclusive learning environment
• Working closely with teachers and other school staff

Requirements

• Previous experience supporting children is desirable
• Experience working with children with SEN is desirable but not essential
• A genuine passion for supporting children and their development
• Patient, caring and understanding approach
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils
• Reliable and professional attitude
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team
• Willingness to learn and develop within an educational setting
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service is desirable, or willingness to obtain one

You do not need to hold a Teaching Assistant qualification to apply for this role. We welcome applications from candidates with relevant experience and transferable skills.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 14.3% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
