SEND Teaching Assistant - Specialist Provision


Skelmersdale & Ormskirk
£109.85 per day
Monday to Friday | 08:30am - 3:30pm | Full-Time | Term Time Only
Are you passionate about supporting children and young people with additional needs? Do you have experience working with individuals with SEND and want to make a genuine difference within a specialist educational setting?
We are currently recruiting for a SEND Teaching Assistant to work full-time within a specialist provision in the Skelmersdale area, supporting pupils with a range of additional needs.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is patient, caring and resilient, with a genuine passion for helping children overcome barriers to learning and reach their potential.

The Role


As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with additional needs.
  • Support pupils with their learning, communication, social development and emotional wellbeing.
  • Assist the class teacher with the delivery of engaging and accessible activities.
  • Help create a safe, positive and supportive learning environment.
  • Support pupils with their individual needs and learning objectives.
  • Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils.
  • Work closely with teaching staff and other professionals to ensure pupils receive appropriate support.
  • Promote independence, confidence and positive engagement within the school environment.

  • Flexible and able to travel between Skelmersdale and Ormskirk when required.

?? ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE - PLEASE READ BEFORE APPLYING


You MUST have previous personal or professional experience supporting people with additional needs.
This could include experience supporting individuals with:

  • SEND / learning difficulties
  • Autism
  • ADHD
  • Complex needs
  • Physical disabilities
  • Communication difficulties
  • Behavioural or emotional needs
  • Other additional needs


IMPORTANT: This experience MUST be clearly demonstrated on your CV when you apply.
Candidates will be screened against this requirement, and applications where relevant personal or professional experience supporting individuals with additional needs is not clearly evidenced on the CV may not be progressed.

Essential Requirements

  • Enhanced Child DBS registered on the Update Service (UDS), or willingness to apply and pay for a new Enhanced Child DBS.
  • A minimum of 24 months' employment references.
  • Previous personal or professional experience supporting individuals with additional needs - this MUST be clearly evidenced on your CV.
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • Ability to travel around the Skelmersdale and Ormskirk areas.

What We Offer

  • £109.85 per day.
  • Full-time, Monday to Friday working hours.
  • 08:30am - 3:30pm.
